Dalwood Barn House

Barn house with exposed green oak frame contemporary space using traditional materials

A second generation barn house with exposed green oak frame. Recently extended and refurbished by new owners, the house offers a fantastic blend of traditional materials and contemporary spaces.

The classic mix of painted sawn ceiling boarding over exposed green oak rafters is still a client favourite.

The house is seven metres wide internally to allow enough space to have rooms in the roof to the rear.

A gallery space with oak balustrade overlooks the main barn room and the rear part of the house has been constructed with a painted softwood timber roof to create a more seaside feel.

A simple natural slate roof echoes the traditional nearby village buildings.

A large open inglenook fireplace is positioned centrally in the glazed gable of the barn room as a focal point and also offers some screening to the road below.

This simple barn house is the precursor to our BAARN kit-houses.
